Strained tears pricked at the corners of his eyes, either out of continued pain or out of the realization that he was cornered. They weren't going to be able to back out of this one, but they were also certain they wouldn't be able to handle. The mask of formality had already started to slip in the process of getting here and getting patched up. They wouldn't be able to maintain it all night.
